Cesar Chavez High School

Our Mission

ARCH is designed for students with a strong aspiration to achieve the goals and accomplishments required for a competitive university. We are seeking students who are motivated to achieve more, to improve themselves, and to challenge their own boundaries. ARCH provides students the opportunity to lead and serve the community by requiring them to complete 30 hours of community service each year, including summers and breaks.

We believe that students in ARCH need to have the mindset of continuous growth and be the best version of themselves, both academically and non-academically.  ARCH students are expected to learn at a deeper level, engage in the community, and be driven as leaders in all facets of their lives. The expectations are high, but we believe that creating a cohort of students and families that support each other will produce incredible opportunities and options for college. Because ARCH is a rigorous program, we recognize the social and emotional needs of our students and embed opportunities and training to help support student self-growth, self-awareness, and self-care. Strengthening social and emotional skills such as resilience, perseverance and grit is essential. 21stCentury Skills (communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking) are common themes along with leadership and emotional intelligence. The ARCH teacher cohort provides additional enrichment.

We are here to love and support you through this journey. In the application, you will find more information about the ARCH Program and the application process, including timelines. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the application process, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Cami Wells (Email).

Cesar Chavez High School History

Cesar Chavez High School (CCHS) opened in 1999 and was named after Cesar Chavez, a great man who dedicated his life to helping improve the working conditions of farmworkers in this country.
Cesar Chavez (1927-1993) was a great humanitarian and social activist. The son of migrant laborers, Cesar Chavez was a "voice for the voiceless" representing the many migrant farmworkers who labored in the fields of California and Arizona for pennies a day. He peacefully advocated for better wages, work conditions, and the safety of migrant farmworkers. He went on numerous hunger strikes and marches on the state capitols. His tireless leadership and extraordinary efforts eventually led to the changes of the laws and policies on the improvements of these laborers' poor working conditions.  Cesar Chavez made a difference by exercising a fundamental human quality, a genuine love for his fellow men.
Cesar Chavez was a common man with an uncommon vision.  His motto in life "Sí Se Puede" (Yes, it can be done) embodies the unique and invaluable legacy he left to the world and remains relevant and inspiring today for us all. Since his death in 1993, many schools, streets, and parks in California, Arizona, and nationwide have been named/renamed after him.
We are honored to be a school that is named after such a great Champion of humanity. Si Se Puede!
