Dr. Amy Weibel

Greetings Champions!

I've been in school a long time!  I studied zoology at Arizona State University where I conducted research on desert stream ecology and evolution and biogeography of fish.  At New Mexico State University, I studied population genetics of crickets throughout the western U.S.  I continued my education at Wayne State University studying molecular evolution and historical biogeography of woodpeckers.

I taught various biology course (general biology, anatomy and physiology, environmental biology) at the college level for many years.  I taught middle school science for two years here in Laveen.  I'm thrilled that my journey in science research and teaching has lead me to Cesar Chavez High School.  I am the Freshman House biology teacher!  My goal is to help freshman learn to learn and be ready for the next steps in high school and life, and learn some biology (well, a lot of biology!) along the way.
