• Phoenix Union high schools will continue to be closed for classes Wednesday, May 2 due to the educator walkout. SCHOOLS WILL RE-OPEN THURSDAY, MAY 3, FOR STUDENTS WITH A MODIFIED CLASS SCHEDULE, even if the walkout continues. District staff should refer to their email for details on their work schedule.

    For the modified schedule, students will attend periods 1, 2, and 3 on Thursday, and periods 5 or 6, 7, and 8 on Friday. Breakfast and lunch will be served both days, with breakfast beginning at 8:15, followed by classes starting at 9:00AM. Dismissal will occur after lunch at 12:15 P.M. Campuses will remain open between 12:15 and 3:00PM for some activities such as Evening School, IB testing, tutoring, AP test prep, 0 hour or 9th hour. Some small schools may have different schedules.

    Schools will resume the normal schedule on Monday, May 7. Graduation ceremonies will continue as planned.

    Dear Parents/Guardians:

    Due to the continued Educator Walkout, Phoenix Union high schools will remain closed Wednesday, May 2.  Schools will reopen for all students on Thursday, May 3.  Thursday and Friday of this week will have a modified class schedule. 

    Students will attend periods 1, 2, and 3 on Thursday, and periods 5 or 6, 7, and 8 on Friday.  Breakfast and lunch will be served both days, with breakfast beginning at 8:15, followed by classes starting at 9:00AM.  Dismissal will occur after lunch at 12:15 P.M.  Campuses will remain open between 12:15 and 3:00PM for Evening School, IB testing, tutoring, AP test prep, 0 hour or 9th hour. Transportation will be adjusted for this modified schedule.  

    Your child’s school will resume its normal class schedule, Monday, May 7.  Graduation ceremonies will continue as planned.
