For the second time, Metro Tech High School has earned the A+ School of Excellence Award given by the Arizona Educational Foundation. The A+ designation is given for a three-year period ending in 2020. Like the last application process, a panel of principals and assistant principals from other A+ schools conducted a two-day site visit, observing every classroom, and interviewing students, parents, teachers, support staff, and the administration team. To qualify as an A+ School of Excellence, schools must show their uniqueness and demonstrate high or significantly improved achievement scores. The claims submitted in the application must match the reality viewed by the site team, and the conversations during the interviews with our stakeholders. Metro Tech High School is the only Phoenix Union High School to achieve back-to-back recognition of the A+ School of Excellence Award. It is a well-deserved honor, and the students, staff, parents, community members, and administration are to be commended on their work to make this award a reality.
