Teaching Philosophy
Learning anything worthwhile requires concentrated effort. Given enough effort, any student can not only succeed, but exceed in any class. Learning is also a partnership between the student and the teacher, where both members of the partnership must be devoted to the students' success.
Teacher's Expectations
I expect every one of my students to have a positive attitude toward learning Math, no matter how they personally feel about it. I expect my students to be respectful to each other, and also to teachers, tutors and administrators who enter or are part of our classroom. I expect my students to be responsible by getting to class on time, and being prepared for each work day.
Classroom Structures:
Structure 1: students are informally assigned seats. The classroom is in rows and columns. This is used for testing and formally assigned work .
Structure 2: students are assigned into working teams. The teams work together to solve problems and accomplish group goals.
Structure 3: students are assigned into a three-station system of learning with each station being designated to complete defined mathematical activities. These stations will rotate throughout with the day, and are divided into blocked time periods.
