I love being a School Counselor, I like working with High School students, guiding them through the challenges of becoming young adults.  I was born in Cuba, and left to live in Spain as a political refugee, I have also lived in Sweden so I have experienced different political systems, different types of schools, and a variety of educational models.  I first became a teacher and taught  High School Spanish , I also taught Spanish at the Berlitz Institute in Phoenix. I have worked as a translator for Language Line and I was the CEO and founder of Freedom from Error Translations while I worked on my Masters in Education. I am married and have two children. I enjoy reading, hiking, traveling and I jazzercise as much as possible.
I have been at Maryvale for 10 years, currently I have junior students. This year I have been working on preparing juniors to have a plan, be organized and ready to apply to colleges and universities when they return as seniors next year. Also I am reminding students to use
www.azcis.intocareers.org as a tool to help them through the process of transitioning from High School to College.
