    Coach Rachel Gonzalez was born and raised in San Diego, CA.  She was recruited from Chula Vista High School to attend the University of Arizona to play softball in 1981.  In 1982, the University of Arizona Softball program represented the USA in Obregon, Mexico in the Pan American Games.  The team competed against several other countries from all around the world.  While playing for the San Diego Trendsetters, Coach was fortunate to travel abroad to play in Holland (1983) and as both a player and Coach in Australia (1986).  After college, Coach Gonzalez returned to San Diego. Her first coaching job was at her ammeter, Chula Vista High School.  After a few years, she was recruited to coach at the local Community College where she remained for two years. Coach Gonzalez was hired by Principal Nancy Kloss in 1993, and officially started her career in PUHSD as a Physical Education/Health Teacher.  Coach Gonzalez has worked in this district ever since.
    In 1995, Coach Gonzalez earned recognition as both Metro Region Coach of the Year and  North vs South All-Star Coach. In 2005, She earned the title of Metro Region Co-Coach of the Year.  Coach was hired to establish the Betty H. Fairfax Varsity Program in 2009 to current.  In the past seven years at Fairfax, the Stampede Softball teams have made three State Championship appearances.  They earned Metro Region runner-up in 2009, and two Second places finishes in the Maricopa Tournament in 2012 and at the Apollo “Cool Nites” Tournament in 2013.  Coach Gonzalez thrives on having her players reach their fullest potential.  Coach is a Physical Ed/Health teacher and coaches the Girl's Golf Team.
