Course Goals/Objectives
Major Student Activities
1. Develop ability to care for personal needs and possessions.
2. Develop household maintenance skills.
3. Develop food preparations skills.
4. Work and/or volunteer in a variety of community businesses and organizations.
5. Engage in age appropriate leisure activities.
6. Improve social, behavioral, functional academic and language skills.
1. Grooming, clothing and personal care hygiene and eating skills, etc.
2. Laundry, setting, clearing and washing a table, sweeping, mopping, washing drying and putting away dishes, straightening rooms, etc. 3. Planning and preparing food items and meals, using kitchen utensils and appliances.
4. Clerical, food service, housekeeping maintenance, etc.
5. Appropriate work behaviors.
6. Travel skills, use of neighborhood and city facilities and services.
7. Board and card games, arts and crafts, music, physical conditioning and sports.
8. Appropriate manners, Social interactions, behavior, sight words, money skills, time skills, math skills, personal information and commination skills.

Tutoring
Academic tutoring and test preparation is available to all students. Additional support for passing classes and graduating on time is the intent of these services. Support through Title I funding is available in the areas of: math, reading and English. Information on adherence to deadlines; and how a student may make up work missed as a result of absence. Included here may be a reminder of the KKIS period and any other special resources available to students to assist in making up work. Attendance:“Absent” is defined as nonattendance in an assigned class or activity for more than one-half of the period. (PUHSD Governing Board Policy J-1561 JHR) “Tardy” is defined as not being in the assigned class or activity when the tardy bell has finished ringing. (PUHSD Governing Board Policy J-1561 JHR)

Grading:
Daily participation and worksheets will make up most of the assignments. There will be daily discussions and assignments the students are required to participate in or write about.
The grading scale is as follows:
