    T.G.B. Rocks... All Day-Every Day!!!
    Hello Everyone,

My name is Billy Bunstein. Most of my students refer to me as Mr. B. I have had the distinct pleasure of teaching at Trevor G. Browne High School since the beginning of the 2000-2001 school year. Since my arrival on campus, I have been a proud member of the Social Studies department. For the first several years, I exclusively taught United States History. In August of 2013, T.G.B. began to offer its students Peer Leadership (PL) class multiple times per day (periods 1,2,3,4 and 7). I am honored that Dr. Trujillo asked me to leave my U.S. History assignment and take command of our PL course load.
What is PL? It is a course  designed to help freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors become more self-aware. Furthermore, my learners are taught the true power of human communication. In an age when social mediums and the like often overshadow good old face-to-face conversation, my students will constantly be exposed to real-time, whole person communication skills.  Some examples of how these types of skills will be provided are as follows...

    1) Basic listening skills will be emphasized. These would include things such as providing the speaker your full attention and recognizing their key words.
    2) Appropriate response tactics will be practiced.  For example, the use of open questions in order to help advice-seekers find answers for themselves.
    3) Campus-wide discussions based on topics such as the dangers of sexting will be facilitated by the peer leaders themselves through group presentations.
    4) Formal speeches will be written and presented (on four separate occasions) by every student over the course of the school year in order to develop both literacy and verbal/body language skills.

This represents only a small portion of the types of activities my students will be involved with during the 2013-14 school year! In general, by the time my learners leave class in May of 2014, each and every one of them should have not only a greater self-concept, but a strong idea of how to inspire other individuals around them to seek a greater self-concept for themselves.
Finally, I am also the proud sponsor of a club named Races United. This club is designed to help T.G.B. students celebrate racial diversity both here on campus and in the greater community of Maryvale.
All classes and club meetings occur in room 3018. I am available from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Monday  through Friday in room 3018. I also encourage you to contact me at bunstein@phoenixunion.org or 602.764.8500 whenever necessary.

I hope everyone has a fantastic school year, and always rember ... GO BRUINS!!!
