My name is Martin Irwin.  I am a freshman Methods of Science Inquiry 1-2 teacher at Cesar Chavez High School.  I have a Bachelor’s degree in education with an emphasis in Science, Social Studies, and ESL.  Additionally, I have earned two Master’s degrees.  My first was in Counseling from NAU with distinction.  My second was also from NAU in Educational Leadership, specializing in Curriculum Design.  I am also trained in AVID strategies.  Before teaching, I spent six years in the USMC.  I achieved the rank of Sergeant.  I served as a Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Warfare Specialist.  I trained Marines while I served in the 1st Gulf War.  I was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal for outstanding service to my country.  Finally, I was awarded the 2006 Wal-Mart teacher of the year.  I love teaching science and watching students discover the amazing world of science.
Honors students will be required to do a additional honors project that will require them to do additional research.  Click on Methods of Science Inquiry to follow the link to my calendar.
I am available by appointment by calling the school office at any time.    Follow the Plan for Success link to assist your student to prepare for success in college, career and life.
