    I am in my 19th year of teaching at Cesar Chavez High School. I moved here with my family ninteen years ago from Washington State and I love it here. I am also the director of sports medicine and have an athletic training room in the PE building where I work with the injured athletes doing various forms of physical therapy.
     
    Athletic trainers are highly trained medical professionals who are experts in injury
    prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation, particularly in
    the orthopedic and musculoskeletal disciplines.

    Honors Anatomy & Physiology is a laboratory science class designed for the academically able students who have taken biology and chemistry and wish to pursue a more detailed study of the human body. This course provides comprehensive information about the structures and functions of the human body and will serve as a foundation for those who wish to pursue a career in the medical profession and any allied health occuption.
     
    TEXT: Pearson Essentials of Anatomy & Physiology 12 edition
     
    ATTENDANCE: This class is in compliance with the attendance policy of the Cesar Chavez High School Student Handbook. This is a very academically challenging class and requires daily attendance and study.
     
    GRADING: Grading will be from accumulated points throughout the semester and follows the PUHSD grading procedures. Home work will be assigned daily to help master the academic content. Assignments are due on the due date and specific times unless the student has made prior arrangements. If the assignment is 1 day late, 20% willbe taken off the total points, 2 days late will result in 0 points for the assignment. Exams will be worth 100 points and quizzes will be worth 20-30 points. The district final exam (CRT) wil be worth 15% of the total student grade. There will be article analysis assignments as well as rersearch projects during the course for additional points.
     
    COMMUNITY SERVICE/EXPERIENCE: Each student will need to complete 25 hours of community service/experience each quarter in a medical setting, or the athletic training room. This service is valuable for each student to learn and reinforce classroom learning about human anatomy and careers in the various medical fields.
