Dance is offered in Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced as well as Honors levels.  We either introduce and/or continue studies in techniques such as Ballet, Modern, and Jazz, as well as Improvisation, Choreography, Anatomy/Health of Dancers, Concert Production, and Cultural Dances.  These classes although are very enjoyable have a rigor and high set expecations of each student that enrolls.  Although I understand your student may not study or expect to become a professional dancer in the future,  we teach each student as if this were the first step in that process.  My goal is to teach the student that he/she has complete control in his/her successes in dance as well as any other endeavor they set out for.  This class will teach Dance Technique and Performance as well as real life skills such as self discipline and time mangement skills, just to name a few.  In addition, the student will plan for the future as an appreciator of dance and the arts.
    Dance Fusion Company
This is a group of 15 or more advanced high school dancers. Each year in May open auditions are held for dancers enrolled in any dance class at Chavez to audition for this advanced group.  This group rehearses an average of 6-8 hours a week to prepare for performance opportunities.  In addition, this group is given opportunity to submit choreography proposals to be approved for advanced concerts and some public performances.
