    My name is Alejandrina Mejia.  I am a Science teacher at Linda Abril Educational Academy.  I am currently teaching the following classes:  Edgenuity Environmental Science, Edgenuity Biology, Edgenuity Methods of Scientific Inquiry (MOSI), Live Instruction in Biology and Environmental Science.  I am the sponsor of the Blue Planet Society, a sustainability club at LAEA. Regular club meetings are conducted on Thursdays immediately after school to plan and discuss educational and recreational activities. Recyclable pick up is also done after. 
     
    To fully understand how materials are processed, club members visit the Phoenix Recycling Plant and Metal Recycling Plant. In addition, we also visit the Wastewater Treatment Plant in Scottsdale, Arizona. 
     
    My educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Biology from the University Autonomous of Santo Domingo at the Dominican Republic.  I also have a master's degree in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus at Puerto Rico.  I taught Biology for two years at the University of Puerto Rico, Cayey campus. In addition, I taught a summer of Botany at the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico.  I taught at Carl Hayden for 15 years where I taught different Science classes.  At Carl Hayden, I was also sponsor of the Blue Planet Society (a sustainability club).  I also taught Environmental Science at Alhambra High School for two years and I was co-sponsor of the Student for a Sustainable Planet or recycling club.  
     
    I taught for two years at Sqwak Peak elementary School of Creighton district.  In my first year at Squak Peak I taught 3rd grade dual language and in my second year I taught Spanish for 7th and 8th grade gifted students. I was also the bilingual coordinator in my first year at Squaw Peak.
