Welcome to Mrs. McWenie's webpage. I have been teaching Spanish here at Central since 1991. I have taught all four years of Spanish, but currently I am teaching second and third year. I am married to retired Central Social Studies teacher, Matt McWenie and have two children. My daughter, Sierra, a graduate of Central, is a college senior majoring in elementary education. My son, Aidan is a college sophomore. I am a huge "animal person" and sponsor the C.A.R.E. (Centralians for Animal Rights Education) Club on campus. We meet Tuesdays after school and volunteer at valley animal shelters. I am a Phoenix native and attended Sunnyslope High School, Glendale Community College, and Arizona State University.

    • Office Hours: Advisory (4th period) & 3:00-3:30; lunch by appointment
    • Textbook(s) Name(s): Autético Level 2 (Spanish 3-4 & Spanish 3-4H), Abriendo Pasos (Spanish 5-6H)
    • Absence/Make-up Policy:

I will contact your parent/guardian after 3 absences, and you will be referred to the attendance liaison. It is your responsibility to find out what you missed when you were absent (refer to your calendar). If you are absent on the day of a test, you have one week from the day of the test to make it up during Adivsory/Office hours. If you have an excused absence the day homework is assigned or due, you have one extra day to turn it in for full credit. District policy states that after 12 absences (excused or unexcused), you may be dropped from the class.

    Late work:

Homework that is turned in after the beginning of the period will be late. An assignment that is one day late will be worth 75%. An assignment that is two days late will be worth 50% and must be made up during Advisory/Office hours. Once we finish with a unit, homework from that unit will no longer receive credit.
