The goal of our department is to have students graduate with the reading and writing skills that they will need to be successful in college, career, and life. Phoenix Union High School District Language Arts Curriculum is based on the Common Core Standards. The standards were written to include the development of critical reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. Our district began implementation of the Common Core Standards four years ago and is now in our third year of Common Core Units in the English classrooms.
