Students take written examinations, which are externally scored/graded by IB Examiners at the end of course. Students complete assessment tasks throughout their two year program which are scored/graded internally by their classroom teacher. Scores range from 1 - 7. Assessment is criterion-based rather than performance-based; i.e., a students performance is measured against a specific, stated criteria based on the aims and objections for each subject curriculum, rather than against the performance of other students taking the same examinations. "Validity, Reliability, and Fairness are the watchwords of the DP Assessment strategy," and universities value it's rigor and consistency.
