SENIOR ARMY INSTRUCTOR
Name: Jackson MacDonaldDegree(s): Master of Public Administration, Bachelor of Arts in Economics and ManagementI am Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Jackson MacDonald. I am the Senior Army Instructor of the JROTC Department.
A short history of my background:
I retired from the United States Army in 2011 and have been teaching at Alhambra ever since.I enlisted in the United States Army for the Airborne Infantry in 1991. I served in Germany, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. I was then commissioned into the Armor Branch. After a few years at Fort Lewis, Washington and Fort Knox, Kentucky, I was stationed in Germany and was assigned to the Anti-Terrorism branch where I helped coordinate security efforts at US Army bases throughout Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Hungary, Bosnia, Macedonia and Kosovo. I was then assigned to the Arizona Army National Guard and deployed to Iraq in 2003.I have a BA in Economics and Management and a Masters Degree in Public Administration.After training and leading soldiers for 20 years, I became a JROTC instructor and enjoy helping high school students learn the leadership skills that will make them successful during and after high school. I want all high school students to get involved and have fun.My wife, Laurie, and I have been married since 1994. She is an Administrative Assistant. I was born in San Jose, Costa Rica, I am married, and have six children and eleven grandkids. While on active duty I serviced as a door gunner and an Enlisted Flight Instructor on the UH-1H (Huey), CH-47 (Chinook), and the UH-60M (Blackhawk) helicopter. Under my belt, I have nine combat tours, from Panama, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, and Kosovo. A short history of my background:
I retired from the United States Army in 2010 and started teaching in Dallas, Texas. I came here to instruct at Alhambra in 2012. During my Army career I have served in a number of positions and duty assignments. I enlisted in the United States Army as an Infantryman in 1987. I served in Germany, Panama and Egypt. After leaving the Infantry I was assigned to the Phoenix Recruiting Battalion as a recruiter in Mesa, Arizona. After leaving recruiting I was assigned to the Deputy Chief of Staff in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania where I served as the Transportation Sergeant for the mid- eastern region. In 2003 I was assigned to the Arizona Army National Guard as an Active Guard member. I served in numerous positions while with the National Guard as a Recruiter and the Recruit Sustainment Program (RSP) Operations Sergeant.
Now that I’m done training America’s finest, I’m enjoy teaching our future leaders and watching them grow into adults.
