    Hello, my name is Mary E. Barnes and I am a ESS teacher at Cesar Chavez High School.  I have been here since the beginning, 1999.  I have enjoyed serving the many students that gone through my door.  I teach Practical English 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, and 7-8 which contains post-secondary vocabulary and various language arts skills.

    Your student will build skills in finding main idea with details, identifying story elements, developing vocabulary, sequencing, following directions, drawing conclusions, visualizing, using context clues, making inferences, classifying, fact or opinion, making predictions, comparing and contrasting, identifying cause and effect and appreciating literature. 

    Your student will identify sentences and fragments, capitalizing and punctuating statements, writing sentences, writing questions, 
     
     I also teach Job Prep/Health  Job Prep is for students to steer their ideas on what types of jobs they would want after their career here at Cesar Chavez.  Students will complete job apllications, get an idea of what they need for their resumes and research different careers.  Students will also develop short term and long term goals.   In January, students will then be enrolled within Health.  They will understand the different systems within our bodies, eating healthy, what bad decisions can do their bodies.
