Dear PXU Families,
Thank you for your ongoing support and trust as we finalize our plans to provide a safe return to inperson learning.
We held a parent meeting 3/26 about in person learning. Please access the information.
On February 22, we released our plans to provide in-person learning on March 30. You were asked to visit www.PXU.org/ReturnToSchool to select your student’s preferred learning model for the remainder of the 4th Quarter. If you have not yet made a selection, please do so as soon as possible.
As you may know, on Wednesday, March 3, a statewide Executive Order was released, requiring school systems to offer in-person learning options for students beginning March 15.
Please take a moment to watch the video message from Superintendent Dr. Chad Gestson, highlighting the impact this order will have on our plans to welcome students back to our campuses. In the video, Dr. Gestson shares that Phoenix Union will welcome back all staff to campuses and District sites on March 15 for Safety Week. We will utilize the week to bring back staff who have not already returned to campus and finalize our safety procedures. This week will also mark the beginning of Spring sports competitions. Per the Executive Order, any family who chose in-person learning will be welcomed back in socially-distanced common spaces equipped for virtual learning.
The week of March 22 will be Welcome Back Week. Each day, we will welcome back a different grade level of students. For families who chose in-person learning for their student(s), the schedule will be as follows:
• Monday, March 22: Seniors (Class of 2021) will attend school on campus
*March 23-26 Seniors will attend school virtually
• Tuesday, March 23: Juniors (Class of 2022) will attend school on campus
*March 22, 24-26 Juniors will attend school virtually
• Wednesday, March 24: Sophomores (Class of 2023) will attend school on campus
*March 22, 23, 25, 26 Sophomores will attend school virtually
• Thursday & Friday, March 25 & 26: Freshmen (Class of 2024) will attend school on campus
*March 22-24 Freshmen will attend school virtually
*Please note: We have attached the 4th Quarter bell schedule for your reference. Monday, March 29, is a board-adopted holiday in observance of Cesar Chavez Day. Students of all grade levels (9-12) who have registered for in-person learning will return to campuses on Tuesday, March 30 for Launch Week.
Currently, over 75% of our families have chosen to remain virtual, and we will continue to provide a high-quality experience for all students, whether in person or virtual. As we transition back to in-person learning, please be reminded that everyone will be required to follow our safety protocols at all times when on our campuses. This includes wearing a mask, social distancing, and following all entry and exit protocols established by each school. Please continue to visit www.PXU.org for announcements, information, and frequently asked questions.
We look forward to seeing our staff and students again soon.
