I graduated Arizona State University with a Bachelors in Secondary Education in Mathematics.  I am proud to be the first of my family to attain higher education.  I want to now help other people within my community reach their academic goals.

     I want to be a teacher because I want to be a life time learner.  It is my philosophy that as people, we must never stop seeking knowledge.  Being a teacher will give me the opportunity to learn something new every day, to challenge myself to be better than I was yesterday.  This world is filled with a plethora of knowledge and it is my goal to discover it along with my students.  I want to show them the doors education can open for them, if they apply themselves and work hard.

      I know that every student has a chance at a bright and fruitful future, regardless of their abilities.  If a student has guidance and support, they can accomplish their academic goals.  I must figure out what the best course of action is for each student entrusted to me and to find bridges across any obstacles they face, be it a disability or not yet having mastery of the English language.  A student’s ethnicity, socio-economic status, or past does not define their future and they need to know that with knowledge as their ally, they can become masters of their own destiny.

      School is often regarded as a place where students go to learn but, to me, the whole world is a school.  There is a lesson to be learned everywhere we go and we need students that know where to look.  It took centuries and centuries of people seeking answers to their everyday problems to create and shape the world we live in today.   It will now take many more new life time learners to provide solutions for the problems of the future.
