Philosophy

The PUHSD Social Studies Honors Program is designed to challenge students to achieve higher level thinking by exceeding on level standards while taking responsibility for their own learning. The program provides students with a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary connections, critical analysis and application, collaborative thinking, and student reflection on topics in a changing world. Research Based Project A capstone project will allow students to demonstrate honors level learning and incorporate connections with other disciplines. Honors projects will include high quality and rigorous analysis, reflection, exploration, and inference in a body of work that demonstrates exceeding on level content learning. All Honors students will need to complete one research based project per semester.

Capstone Project 10%

Honors PLC Based* 90%

*Departments will convene a vertical honors PLC to discuss category weighting to ensure consistency from course to course.
