Mrs. Annie Shanahan

Hello Maryvale Panthers!

My name is Annie Shanahan and I teach the social science classes for the Gifted and Talented Academy at Maryvale High School.  I currently teach World History Honors, AP U.S. Government and Politics, and U.S./AZ Honors (Dual Enrollment).  This is my 21st year in education.  I graduated from Winona State University in Minnesota in 2001, subbed for two years before moving to Arizona and taking a job in the Avondale Elementary District.  I spent 13 years teaching middle school social studies, during which time I got a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University. 

In 2022, I earned my Master's Degree in American History and Government from Ashland University. This is my sixth year teaching at the Gifted and Talented Academy and at Maryvale.  I am very happy to be a member of the Maryvale school community. Go Panthers!
