Application Process
Thank you for your interest in Phoenix Union Bioscience High School. We appreciate the time you take to complete the application and look forward to hearing from you. Instructions for the application process are listed below. If you need additional information or assistance, please call our Recruitment Specialist, Ms. Nini Gariepy at 602-764-5606.This application process is designed to ensure that applicants to Bioscience understand our program, are committed to academics, and have interest in science related fields. Students who properly complete the application process will be considered for admission to Phoenix Union Bioscience High School. Admission is not on a first-come-first-served basis.
Application Process Instructions
Applications and their components must be complete to be submitted. Incomplete application packets will not be accepted or reviewed. If you have any difficulty with the application process, please contact Ms. Nini Gariepy at 602-764-5606 or gariepy@phoenixunion.org. See dates on the application packet for this year's deadlines.Parent Orientation and Student Interactive Sessions
Each applicant and at least one parent/guardian must attend one of the Parent Orientation/Student Interactive Sessions (see dates above.) A Spanish interpreter will be provided for both sessions. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the Orientation/Interactive Session. Late arrivals may be asked to reschedule. During the Orientation/Interactive Session, applicants and parents will participate in a staff facilitated dialogue, where students will have an opportunity to share more information about themselves through structured activities, discussion, and a short reflection. Q: How should I turn in my application?
A. Please print out paper copies of each document, put them into a folder or manila envelope, and bring them in to the front office of Bioscience so that we can double check for you that your application is complete. Drop off completed applications to Bioscience High School, 512 E. Pierce St. Phoenix, AZ or email the completed application to gariepy@phoenixunion.org and make sure you receive a receipt from her stating she received your application.
**Students should NOT collect teacher recommendations from their 8th grade teachers. Teachers should send their recommendations directly to Ms. Nini Gariepy by fax (602-764-5680), email gariepy@phoenixunion.org , or mailed directly to Bioscience High School - 512 E. Pierce St. Phoenix, AZ 85004.
Q: When will I find out if I am accepted?
A. We will send notification letters letting you know either way starting in the middle of February. The letters will explain your next steps. If you are not accepted, but meet the criteria, you may request to be put on the waitlist.
