Title 1 Program: Academic tutoring and test preparation is available to all students. Additional support for passing classes and graduating on time is the intent of these services. Support through Title 1 funding is available in the areas of: math, reading, and English. If interested please contact the Principal Mr. Philip Verdugo or Assistant Principal for Instruction Mr. Steve Contreras for additional information at 602-764-2000.

    Make-up Policy:

If any student does not meet the assigned due-dates, he or she will be required to attend the KKIS period for additional help from the teacher.  If a student misses a class, the student will be required to make up the missing work. Class-time is NOT to complete make-up assignments.

ü  It is definitely in the best interest of the student to attend each and every class.

ü  Late and missing assignments, quizzes and tests will count as a “0” until completed.

ü  Students will be required to do what was done in the class that was missed. If that is not practical, the instructor may choose a substitute activity which will require as much effort Examples:  (1) If we saw a 40 minute video clip in class, you will need to watch that 40 minute video clip for makeup.  (2) If we made empanadas in class (a type of Argentine food) we probably won’t be able to repeat that activity just for one person.  We will have to come up with an alternate activity that would fulfill the cultural purpose of the activity.  Maybe you will have to find a recipe from a Spanish speaking country, write it down, prepare it at home and write about your family’s reaction to the food and bring a picture showing yourself preparing or eating the food.  The point is, you will need to do the equal or maybe even a little more to make up something that was missed in class.

ü  It is the STUDENT’s responsibility to make-up missing assignments in a timely manner.

IDs:     Students are required to wear ID badges, visibly, at all times while on campus.

    ATTENDANCE POLICY:

“Absent” is defined as nonattendance in an assigned class or activity for more than

on-half of the period. (PUHSD Governing Board Policy J-1561 JHR)

    TARDY POLICY

“Tardy” is defined as not being in the assigned class or activity when the tardy bell

has finished ringing. (PUHSD Governing Board Policy J-1561 JHR)

Being prompt is the key to success in life, work and school.  Students will arrive to every class on time, and be seated in her/his designated seat when the tardy bell rings.  A tardy will only be excusable when there is proper documentation from a doctor’s or court appointment.  Only an administrator or designee may excuse a tardy.  Failure to arrive on time will result in loss of participation points.

    1st Occurrence:     Verbal warning

2nd Occurrence:    5 minute detention will be served during KKIS with the teacher.

3rd Occurrence:  15 minute detention will be served during KKIS with the teacher.

4th Occurrence:  30 minute detention will be served during KKIS with the teacher.

5 or more Occurrences:  Disciplinary referral will be submitted to the Dean of Students
