ANYTOWN LEADERSHIP CAMP TO HOST TWO SUMMER SESSIONS

WHAT: Anytown Leadership Camp is a youth leadership program that celebrates diversity and reduces bias, bigotry, and prejudice by bringing young people of all races, cultures, religions, and backgrounds together for a challenging week of learning, sharing and change. Anytown Leadership Camp participants engage in interactive dialogue within diverse community groups throughout the week in order to address the feelings that can often initiate the negative spiral of prejudice and hatred—a sense of distrust and misunderstanding. Anytown helps bring awareness to these issues, and once this awareness has been achieved, participants are then enabled and empowered to become leaders within their schools and communities.  Youth participants that graduate from the Anytown Leadership Program will receive a certificate for 50 hours of leadership training/service.

While at Anytown, participants gain valuable skills to help them deal with group dynamics, conflict management, intergroup relations, communication, and advocacy. Throughout the program year, students will also implement action plans in order to help bring about a change in their school culture. They return from the program as empowered and skilled agents of change and unity, having adopted a goal to reduce violence and prejudice.

    WHEN:

    · Camp 1: Sunday, June 14th, 2020 to Saturday, June 20th, 2020

    · Camp 2: Sunday, July 5th, 2020 to Saturday, July 11th, 2020

WHERE: Mingus Mountain in Prescott Valley

    Junior Scholars Academy

The Junior Scholars Academy is a 4-day workshop designed to prepare rising juniors-to-be for eventual admission to 4-year colleges and universities.  It is a highly interactive experience that promotes leadership training and college readiness while providing students a foundation for understanding what colleges offer, what they are looking for in their applicant pool, and what steps students can take to increase their chances of acceptance.  Students are asked to put information to immediate use, and to self-reflect throughout this program, culminating in a personal Education/Career Action Plan for their future.

Access ASU: Preparing Future Sun Devils
    Dear Mario,

Access ASU is seeking qualified applicants for two of our June 2019 summer programs. As an educator we are hoping that you will nominate qualified students who would benefit from participation in one of these programs.

Barrett Summer Scholars provides students with the opportunity to experience college while preparing for enrollment and success at Arizona State University and Barrett, the Honors College. The residential program invites academically-talented and motivated current 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students to engage in college-level coursework and participate in a community of peers from across the state.

The César E. Chávez Leadership Institute is a free summer residential program for current 10th and 11th grade students. Attendees will participate in workshops and activities exploring higher education, leadership development and community engagement at Arizona State University's Tempe campus from June 2 – 8, 2019.

If you know any students that would be a great fit for either program, please submit a nomination using the links below.
