READING CLASSES

READING FUNDAMENTALS (READ180)

READ180 is a systematically structured program to help

students learn reading strategies. Students work each day

with the READ180 program, textbook, and independent

reading library. The program helps students develop decoding

skills, reading fluency, and comprehension. In addition,

students build vocabulary,improve spelling, and become more

proficient readers and writers.

STRATEGIC READING

Strategic Reading is designed to support students in becoming

better readers. The curriculum is modeled after the

READ180 Program. Students continue their work to build upon

their reading strategies.

SYSTEM 44

System 44 is a phonics based program designed to help

students break the code of English's 44 sounds and

26 letters. This program includes computer software,

modeled/independent reading, and textbooks. The

software focuses on word strategies (learning how words

work) and sight words (developing high-frequency words).

Students build a strong foundation to grow as readers.
