Desiderata is a unique program serving the Phoenix Union High School District families since 1977. Desiderata Alternative Program (Desi) serves exceptional students displaying needs that are more effectively addressed in a small school environment with increased supports and a favorable staff-to-student ratio. As a temporary IEP-based placement, Desi emphasizes both academic achievement and the intentional development of social, emotional, and behavioral management skills. The goal for all Desi students is to provide individual and program-wide supports to develop the skills necessary for success in the student’s workplace, home, comprehensive campus, and community.
