Welcome, to the website of Mr. Melendez.  It is my hope that this website will help both students and parents get to know me and enable the students to succeed in my class.  This website will contain a class calendar that shows what we will be learning about on any given day along with the tests we will be taking.  The site also contains an area for the students to open up the notes/assignments that we will be completing in class.  With the ability to do this the students can take control of their learning and the parents/guardians will be able to track their students' progress through my class.

I grew up in Southern California and graduated from college with a degree in History from the University of California, Santa Cruz.  After that I earned my California Teaching Credential from California State University, San Marcos before moving to Arizona.  I have been teaching in Arizona for 19 years now, the past 17 have been here at Central. I am currently teaching US/AZ History, AP US History, as well as AP Government. In the past I have taught all four of the major courses in the Social Studies strand (World History, US History, US Government, Economics). In the Spring of 2018, I completed my Masters Degree in Humanities, U.S. History, from Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado, by successfully defending my thesis titled, Born in Blood: How Neglect, the Apache, and the Confederacy led to the Creation of Arizona.

I can be found in Room 323 and my office hours are 7:30-8:00 every day as well as every day during the second lunch period.
