The District recently celebrated a milestone as 83% of its employees are fully vaccinated. This number, coupled with nearly 10,000 students showing vaccination proof, has led PXU to provide expanded opportunities to get to the vaccine. More details about community events can be found at www.PXU.org/BeHealthy

This week, Pfizer received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for ages 5 to 11. Pending final approval from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) early next week, Phoenix Union, our partner elementary districts, and other partners will begin to administer the pediatric Pfizer formula on Saturday, November 6.

“Working in collaboration with our partner elementary leaders, the County, and local pharmacies, we will provide our city with easy access to the pediatric COVID vaccine,” PXU Superintendent Dr. Chad Gestson said. “We remain true to our commitment to the health and safety of our staff, students, families, and the broader community. The vaccine is safe, effective, and our best hope for mitigating the spread of the virus.”

On November 6 and December 4, six schools will offer the pediatric Pfizer vaccine for children ages 5 to 11. New vaccination events at other elementary districts will be announced soon. The Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson initial and booster doses are available for those eligible at every event. Appointments are not required.

Members of the community are encouraged to call (602) 764-1500 if they have questions or need free transportation to and from vaccination events.
